At #autosparx our customers often ask us after our installation of an #insurance approved / #Thatcham accredited #vehicletracker #vehiclealarm #vehicleimmobiliser to their vehicle do they still need to bother putting their aftermarket mechanical steering lock on?
Well….. In our opinion It can’t do any harm!
Although possibly ‘surplus to requirements’ after an electronic security solution has been installed, a big bright mechanical steering lock although possibly a little inconvenient to install & remove, can act as a great visual deterrent to a passing #carthief
Think of it this way, if your car was parked next to an identical model in the supermarket carpark & a passing #car #thief has that make, model & colour on their ‘most wanted’ list would they target the one with or the one without the ‘visible’ security?
Of course we typically add visible window decals warning of an additional security installation (& obviously with our alarms & immobilisers a bright blue flashing LED is typically installed as a visual deterrent) but if they see a steering lock they ‘may’ just consider that attempting to circumvent it (which is ultimately possible) will either draw too much attention or cause too much damage to the #vehicle which would take away its value to them.
Therefore our recommendation is
